Chip multilayer ceramic capacitor (MLCC) materials widely used in portable products can be divided into two main categories according to the temperature characteristics: BME-based C0G products and LOW ESR material selection X7R(X5R) products.

The capacity of class C0G MLCC is mostly below 1000pF, and the main performance index of low power consumption is the tangent value of loss Angle tanδ(DF). The DF value range of the C0G product of the traditional noble metal electrode (NME) is (2.0 ~ 8.0)×10-4, while the DF value range of the technical innovative alkali metal electrode (BME) is (1.0 ~ 2.5)×10-4, which is about (31 ~ 50)% of the former. The low-power characteristics of these products are more significant in GSM, CDMA, cordless telephone, Bluetooth and GPS systems with T/R module circuits.

The capacity of X7R(X5R) type MLCC is mainly concentrated above 1000pF, and the performance index of low power consumption of this type of capacitor is the equivalent series resistance (ESR).

-Y5V capacitors have the worst temperature characteristics, but large capacity, and can replace low volume aluminum electrolytic capacitors

MLCC commonly used C0G(NP0), X7R, Z5U, Y5V and other different medium specifications, different specifications have different characteristics and uses. The main difference between C0G, X7R, Z5U and Y5V is their filling medium.
